During the operation of the plastic sheet making machine, it is crucial to ensure the uniformity of sheet thickness.

 

1. Adjust the mold gap
The mold gap, that is, the distance between the upper and lower molds, directly determines the degree to which the molten plastic is compressed during the extrusion process, thereby affecting the thickness of the sheet. According to the required sheet thickness, the mold gap is accurately controlled by adjusting the lifting mechanism of the mold. Generally speaking, the smaller the gap, the thinner the sheet; the larger the gap, the thicker the sheet. However, it should be noted that too small a gap may cause increased mold wear, and too large a gap may affect the flatness of the sheet. In addition, the design parameters of the mold, such as the outlet width, will also affect the thickness of the sheet, so it needs to be fully considered at the design stage.

 

2. Adjust the screw speed
The screw speed determines the melting speed and extrusion volume of the plastic. On the premise of ensuring that the plastic is fully melted, appropriately reducing the screw speed can reduce the extrusion volume and make the sheet thinner; conversely, increasing the screw speed can increase the extrusion volume and make the sheet thicker. However, it should be noted that the adjustment of the screw speed needs to be coordinated with the heating temperature to avoid quality problems caused by overheating or overcooling of the plastic.

 

3. Control the heating temperature
The heating temperature has a direct impact on the molten state of the plastic. Properly increasing the heating temperature can reduce the viscosity of the plastic, making it easier to flow and fill the mold, thereby helping to produce thinner sheets. However, too high a temperature may cause the plastic to decompose or burn, affecting product quality. Therefore, it is necessary to set a suitable heating temperature according to the specific type of plastic and extrusion process requirements.

 

4. Optimize the cooling system
The cooling system is equally important to ensure the uniformity of sheet thickness. By adjusting the pressure and speed of the cooling roller, the sheet can be effectively cooled and pressed to control its thickness and flatness. In addition, the temperature of the cooling roller and the casting roller also needs to be precisely controlled to avoid uneven sheet thickness caused by temperature differences.

 

5. Use a scanning thickness control system
In order to further improve the uniformity of sheet thickness, a scanning thickness control system can be used. The system can monitor the thickness of the sheet in real time and fine-tune the extruder, die gap, screw speed and other parameters according to the feedback signal to ensure the stability and consistency of the sheet thickness.

 

6. Pay attention to other influencing factors
In addition to the above control methods, it is also necessary to pay attention to the influence of factors such as raw material properties, mold design, stretching roller and traction device control on sheet thickness. Different types of plastics have different melting temperatures and fluidity, and the operating parameters need to be adjusted according to actual conditions. The flow channel design and vent position of the mold will also affect the flow state and filling effect of the plastic in the mold. The control of the stretching roller and traction device can further stretch and extend the sheet, thereby adjusting and controlling its thickness.
