What is the mold material used in the thermoforming process?

There are two common types of plastic thermoforming equipment, one is a three station thermoforming machine and the other is a four station thermoforming machine. The four station thermoforming machine has an additional punching station than the three station one, which is a necessary equipment for customers who want to produce products such as fruit trays, seedling boxes, cup lids, etc. thermoforming equipment integrates the design of forming, punching, cutting and stacking, and each workstation is equipped with its own mold. Therefore, good molds are very important for this equipment.

So what is a good mold? The first choice is a forming mold that requires better materials and higher precision equipment to be processed and produced in the factory. The material used for our molds is generally aluminum alloy 6063T5, which is durable enough for mold production. Secondly, there should be good cooling water channels inside the molding mold. If the mold is used in the production process and there is no good cooling effect, the product often fails to cool in time, resulting in a white bottom.

Secondly, the cutting blades used in the punching station of the mold also require better materials, as poor quality cutting blades during long-term production can cause wear and tear, resulting in continuous cutting of the formed products and ultimately preventing stacking.

Therefore, a good set of molds is also very important for thermoforming machines. If the quality of the molds is poor, it can easily lead to machine damage when using the machine for production.
